Known issues with ExpanDrive
- On Mac OS X v10.5 “Leopard”, using the “eject” button in Finder sometimes produces an error message. Clicking “OK” will dismiss the window and cause ExpanDrive to unmount properly.
- Deleting a symlink that points to a directory will fail. If you really need to get rid of a symlink that points to a directory, you must do it over SSH. See here for further information.
- Symlinks that point to valid files or directories do not carry the “link” icon overlay in Finder. This was a design choice, but if the outcry is great, we will be happy to address the issue.
- Hard or soft links cannot be created within ExpanDrive.
- Ejecting ExpanDrive in Mac OS X v10.5 “Leopard” while a drive is selected in Finder causes the Finder window to close. This behavior is experienced with any sidebar entry that can be ejected, so we must assume it is either a bug or feature in Finder. If you want the window to remain open, select another entry from the sidebar before ejecting ExpanDrive.
- Using Finder Preview or Quick Look with media files (mp3, avi, etc.) causes Finder to hang for a long time in Mac OS X v10.5 “Leopard”. Media streaming behavior in Finder has greatly changed from OS X v10.4 to 10.5, making it nearly unusable over a network. Until Apple addresses this issue, we do not recommend that you use ExpanDrive for playing media through Finder. Other applications like Quicktime or iTunes should work correctly.
